Moving forward, shouldn't we re-develop the General Settings in a similar manor to the FeatureCodes ? i.e. provide a general interface that allows modules to simple 'have' options that are automatically shown / dealt with by a standard class or something?

Having these dealt with in a standard 'core' way would of course make it easier to move from mysql to AstDB as well.
