We hope everyone out there had a great Holiday Season and Happy New Year! In addition to enjoying "the season" ourselves we've been quite busy so we're back to give you a quick update on all the threads of activities that have been keeping us going! Those include 2.10 Release Candidate coming up, new site and repository servers and the fast approaching Open Telephony Training Class.

We've made great progress on the new repository and web site servers and are happy to report that all is going very well! As you may recall, we've been having server problems for some time on our 5 year old hardware and have been undergoing the first phase of our modernization process! Time for another update...

Back from Astricon a week ago and catching up ... for those of you who made it out to Denver last week, it was great to see you! If you weren't able to make it, maybe we'll see you in a MUCH SUNNIER PLACE in NAPLES, FLORIDA at our next Open Telephony Training Seminar quickly coming up in January! To be fair, Denver is usually very sunny but we happened to get one of those "once every 5 year" late October snow storms that can hit the front range.

We also want to make sure everyone is aware that we will be at Astricon in Denver this year so come to the Open Source corner and visit us at the booth, you may even have a chance to wind a valuable prize, read on for details!

FreePBX 2.10 plans - what we are thinking

p_lindheimer's picture

WIth 2.9 solidly behind us and one of the most feature rich releases ever, we are really pumped to keep up the momentum and brining you more great things! Several of us (active developers) spent some time last week to map out what we want to try and accomplish in the next release, when it should come out, and tackle the hard problem of what we will need to move out of the 2.10 wish list so that we can get a release out before the end of 2012! Since it's really important for us to bounce off such plans on all of you, I wanted to share a summary of what is on our mind.

For those of you who were able to join us, we had another great class and gathering in Cleveland, OH at last week's Open Telephony Training Seminar (OTTS). SkyKingOH, Owner of Micro Advantage in Cleveland, OH, generously hosted our event this time helping with all sorts of logistics, finding a great facility and generally assuring that we were able to have another excellent event for roughly 30 attendees who were able to make it. For those of you on the waiting list, we are already working on coming up with the next venue so hang tight!

I've been on a bit of a trend not quite delivering on the dates that I keep claiming here. I told you I was going to make 2.9 final and well, I guess it still says Release Candidate when you look at the version. But that doesn't seem to have stopped nearly 5000 people from running 2.9 so I guess no harm done:-) I also told you that you would be able to listen in on the webinar for the Atlanta Asterisk Users Group (AAUG) VoIP conference when I presented but technical difficulties seem to have gotten the best of that also! (I did speak, but you had to be there…)
